Magic Hour 是什么

先用一两句话说清楚。

Magic Hour is a browser studio and API from Y Combinator-backed Magic Hour AI, Inc. that pairs its own face swap and lip sync tools with 30-plus hosted models such as Kling and Veo 3.1. Kling 4.0 arrived on October 27, 2026. Plans start at US$19 a month for 12,000 never-expiring credits; premium models use them fast.

主要功能

它能做什么,每项一句话,以及我们有没有实测。

  • Face swap for photos, videos and GIFs

Swaps one face, or several different faces in multi-face mode (three on the free tool), into a photo, video or GIF. A photo swap costs 10 credits (20 at 2K, 40 at 4K); video costs 25 to 40 credits a second from 480p to 4K.

Rates from Magic Hour's product-facts file; Magic Hour calls the two face swap versions in its API its own and names no outside model for them.

  • Lip sync and talking photos

Syncs a face video to new audio in lite, standard or pro mode, or animates a still portrait from audio. Lip sync costs 1 credit per video frame (2 in pro mode), about 24 credits a second at 24 fps.

Per Magic Hour's API schema and lip sync page; the full tool accepts clips up to 83 minutes, the free tool 10 seconds.

  • Hosted video models

Runs 15 video models listed on its models page, including Kling 3.0, Veo 3.1, Seedance 2.5, Wan 3.0, MiniMax H3 and LTX-2.5, plus Kling 4.0 since October 27, 2026, each priced in credits per second.

Per Magic Hour's models page and changelog. Kling 4.0 is limited to Creator, Pro and Business subscribers.

  • Image models and photo tools

Generates and edits images with Nano Banana, GPT Image 2, Seedream, FLUX.2 Klein, Qwen and Krea models, and adds upscaling, background removal, head and body swap, try-on and headshots.

Per Magic Hour's models page, which listed 31 models in all on November 3, 2026.

  • Character Replace and saved Characters

Replaces a person in a video with your character, or moves your character with a video's motion, using Wan-Animate, Kling 3.0 or MiniMax H3. A saved Character can be reused across tools.

Per Magic Hour's API schema and changelog. Its own latency data puts the median Character Replace job at 21 minutes.

  • Credits that never expire

Subscription credits, one-time packs from US$10 for 4,000 credits, signup credits and daily claims all roll over, including after you cancel. Packs include commercial use and watermark-free exports.

Per Magic Hour's pricing page and help center. Packs gained commercial rights on September 18, 2026.

  • REST API, SDKs and an MCP server

A REST API (marked beta) with 39 endpoints and Python and Node SDKs shares your credit balance; an MCP server at mcp.magichour.ai lets Claude, Claude Code and Codex create images and videos.

Per Magic Hour's OpenAPI schema and MCP page. Magic Hour states the API has no rate or concurrency limits; jobs may queue.

  • No-signup free tools

Core tools work without an account: three video generations a day shared by the text-to-video, image-to-video and editor tools, three video face swaps, three lip syncs, five photo face swaps and ten images.

Per Magic Hour's FAQ and help center. The video allowance is shared by everyone on the same network.

适合谁

它帮得上谁、解决什么问题、在哪个榜单里。

适合

  • Social creators making face swaps, talking photos and short meme or reaction clips
  • Marketers producing UGC-style ads, product videos and localized versions of one clip
  • Small teams that want video, image and voice tools on one credit balance
  • Developers who want face swap, lip sync and several video models behind one API or MCP server
  • Occasional users who prefer a one-time credit pack to a subscription

解决的问题

  • Swapping a face or syncing new dialogue into existing footage without editing software
  • Trying Kling, Veo, Seedance and Wan on one idea without four separate accounts
  • Paying for credits that expire unused at the end of each month
  • Adding media generation to an app or agent without integrating each model maker's API

擅长什么

别人公开做过的测试:给了它什么、结果怎样。

  1. 案例 1

PiClumen, which sells a rival image and video platform, spent four hours on Magic Hour's face swap in July 2026

    输入

Two superhero images uploaded to Face Swap with the default Version 1 model in Smart Mode, then the same pair through Head Swap and Body Swap (Body Swap ran on Nano Banana 2).

    结果

The plain face swap came back in under a minute with natural blending and the original expression kept. Head Swap looked forced at the neck and hairline, and Body Swap mixed the two costumes into a hybrid. Read it as a competitor's test, published on July 27, 2026.

  2. 案例 2

PiClumen's lip sync run in the same July 2026 test: a stage photo of a pop singer with the matching built-in celebrity voice preset

    输入

One portrait photo, a few lines of lyrics typed as text and a celebrity voice picked from the built-in voice list; then a longer passage of lyrics.

    结果

The first output was one second long. The longer run took 2 to 3 minutes for the audio and 3 to 4 more for the video; the singer moved and strummed, but the mouth often missed the words, looked stiff and lost image quality. Magic Hour has since removed some celebrity voice presets (see Faces, voices and consent).

  3. 案例 3

Magic Hour's own benchmark, designed and funded by the company: one image-to-video brief through five models on its API, September 9 to 10, 2026

    输入

The same source image and motion prompt for a skincare bottle, a sneaker, a coffee scene and a furnished room; 8 seconds, 720p, audio off; three attempts per model and scene (60 in all).

    结果

58 of 60 jobs finished. Median credits per finished clip were 384 for Kling 3.0 and LTX 2.5, 768 for Veo 3.1, 960 for Sora 2 and 4,608 for Seedance 2.5, a 12-fold spread for the same request; two Seedance jobs were refused with a policy code and charged nothing. No quality ratings were collected.

  4. 案例 4

Budgeting Kling 3.0 through Magic Hour's API on an annual plan, the example in Magic Hour's own API docs

    输入

A five-second Kling 3.0 clip at 720p with audio off, 240 credits, paid from the Creator annual plan (US$144 for 144,000 credits).

    结果

That is 600 clips a year, or US$0.24 each if every credit is used; Magic Hour calls this about 43% below Kling's direct API list price of US$0.42, by its own comparison of October 26, 2026. Sound, 1080p and video references raise the credit cost.

  5. 案例 5

Waiting for API jobs: Magic Hour's own timing of 8,160 successful jobs on 11 video endpoints, August 15 to September 13, 2026

    输入

Real customer jobs measured from project creation to completion, queueing included.

    结果

Median times were 36 seconds for text-to-video, 87 seconds for image-to-video and 21 minutes 3 seconds for Character Replace. Magic Hour calls the figures directional and not a service-level promise; no outside party has published comparable numbers.

短板

做得不好的地方和证据,以及我们还没法定论的地方。

做得不好

做得不好

  • Premium models eat a plan in a few clips.

证据: Seedance 2.5 at 1080p costs 840 credits a second, so one five-second clip uses 4,200 of the Creator plan's 12,000 monthly credits; Kling 3.0 at 720p costs 48 a second. The pricing page's '1.7 hours of video' a year assumes the cheapest rate of 24 credits a second.

  • The free tier is thin and watermarked.

证据: Without an account, the video generators and editor share three generations a day, and so does everyone on the same network; those clips are three seconds at 480p with a watermark. Free accounts get 400 signup credits plus seven daily claims of 100, for personal, non-commercial use only.

  • Consent for faces and voices is left to you.

证据: The terms make the user responsible for consent and require no consent documents. The face swap page markets celebrity face swaps, a public lip sync template is built on an interview clip of Cameron Diaz, and the live API voice list still names Donald Trump, Joe Biden and Taylor Swift.

  • Refunds are narrow.

证据: A refund needs a request within 7 days, fewer than 400 credits used, and is limited to one per customer ever. A finished but unsatisfying result does not return credits automatically, per the pricing FAQ; only technical failures do.

  • Almost no independent evidence exists.

证据: The only outside test found comes from PiClumen, a competitor; Magic Hour's benchmarks are its own, and no test by an independent news outlet or review site turned up in searches.

  • Retention has no fixed period.

证据: The privacy policy and trust page say retention varies by feature and service provider, an expired download link does not mean deletion, and deleting a project does not guarantee immediate removal from backups or providers' systems. Data is processed in the United States.

  • It is not an editor for frame-level work.

证据: Magic Hour itself says it does not replace a full non-linear video editor, a professional VFX and compositing suite or a specialist enterprise avatar system; PiClumen found templates could not be adjusted after generation.

尚不确定

尚不确定

  • Whether celebrity voice presets are licensed.

原因: Magic Hour removed two named presets on October 23, 2026 and new celebrity-preset selection from Characters on October 13, yet its API schema on November 3 still listed 1,261 voice names including heads of state. Its own blog tells users not to infer a commercial identity licence from a preset.

  • Quality against the model makers' own apps.

原因: No public test has run the same prompt through Magic Hour and through the model makers' own apps, such as Kling's, and compared the results or the cost per usable clip.

  • How much money is behind the company.

原因: Only Y Combinator backing (Winter 2024) is confirmed by Y Combinator's directory and Magic Hour's site. Funding databases give conflicting totals and no news outlet has reported a round.

  • How the cheaper-than-direct claim holds up.

原因: The 43% saving on Kling 3.0 is Magic Hour's own calculation from October 26, 2026 and assumes every annual credit is used; it applies to one model at one setting.

常见问题

先给结论,再讲原因、例子、限制和下一步。

Is Magic Hour free?

Magic Hour has a free tier, but it is small and its videos carry a watermark. Without an account you get three video generations a day shared by the video generators, three video face swaps, three lip syncs, five photo face swaps and ten images; a free account adds 400 signup credits and up to seven daily claims of 100.

限制

Free clips from the no-account video generators are three seconds at 480p, the video allowance is shared by everyone on the same network, and free output is for personal, non-commercial use only.

How much does Magic Hour cost?

Magic Hour costs US$19 a month for 12,000 credits on Creator, US$39 for 25,000 on Pro and US$99 for 70,000 on Business, or US$144, US$300 and US$792 billed yearly. One-time credit packs start at US$10 for 4,000 credits, and no credits expire.

例子

A five-second Kling 3.0 clip at 720p uses 240 credits, so Creator covers 50 a month; one five-second Seedance 2.5 clip at 1080p uses 4,200 credits, more than a third of the month.

限制

Prices exclude tax and may show in local currency; the US prices above come from the pricing page and help center on November 3, 2026.

Does Magic Hour put a watermark on videos?

Magic Hour watermarks free video and audio output, not paid output. Any subscription or a one-time credit pack removes the watermark, and most free image tools never add one.

限制

Magic Hour's help center says removing a watermark does not by itself grant commercial rights; those come with a paid plan or a credit pack.

Is Magic Hour safe and legit?

Magic Hour is a real, registered company: Magic Hour AI, Inc., founded in 2023 by Runbo Li and David Hu and listed in Y Combinator's Winter 2024 batch. Its terms say it does not train on your content, and its status page showed every service operational on November 3, 2026.

原因

The risks are elsewhere: consent for faces and voices is left to you, retention has no fixed period, refunds are limited to one per customer, and almost all public evidence comes from the company itself or a competitor.

Can I face swap a celebrity or a friend on Magic Hour?

Magic Hour's tools will run the swap, but its terms make you responsible for having the rights and consents the law requires to use anyone's face, voice or likeness. The terms ban sexual content involving minors and sexually explicit or intimate content of a real person without consent.

限制

Magic Hour does not ask for consent documents, yet its face swap page markets celebrity swaps. Ads or paid posts with a real person's face or voice need that person's permission in most countries.

Does Magic Hour use my photos and videos to train AI?

Magic Hour says it does not use prompts, uploads or generated outputs to train AI models, on free and paid accounts, through the API and through its MCP server. Face and voice media are processed only to perform the task and are not used to identify people, per its privacy policy of October 3, 2026.

限制

Your files still pass to the AI and media providers that run each model, which the policy does not name, and no fixed retention period is given; ask support to delete specific uploads.

Does Magic Hour have an API?

Magic Hour has a REST API at api.magichour.ai, marked beta, with 39 endpoints including face swap, lip sync, text-to-video, image-to-video and voice. API calls spend the same credits as the web app, and Python and Node SDKs and an MCP server for Claude, Claude Code and Codex are available.

例子

The API page prices Kling 3.0 from US$0.045 a second and Seedance 2.5 from US$0.158 a second, assuming full use of Business annual credits.

限制

Speech generation and voice cloning are not available through the MCP server, and 41 of its 48 tool names changed on October 30, 2026 without aliases.

Can I use Magic Hour videos commercially?

Magic Hour allows commercial use for paid subscribers, credit-pack buyers and customers on agreed usage billing, including client work. Output made on a free account is limited to personal, non-commercial use.

限制

Owning the output does not clear the people, brands, songs or characters in it, and the terms warn that outputs may not be unique or protected by copyright.

Can I get a refund from Magic Hour?

Magic Hour refunds a subscription or renewal only if you ask within 7 days of payment and have used fewer than 400 credits since. A credit pack is refundable within 7 days only if none of its credits were used, and each customer gets one approved refund.

下一步

Email support@magichour.ai with the subject 'Refund Request'; failed or cancelled generations return credits on their own, but a finished result you dislike does not.

Does Magic Hour make its own AI video models?

Magic Hour's video and image generation runs on hosted models it does not present as its own, such as Kling, Veo, Seedance, Wan, MiniMax H3 and Nano Banana; its models page credits Veo 3.1 to Google and GPT Image 2 to OpenAI. Face swap, lip sync and talking photos are presented as Magic Hour's own systems, and its video-to-video tool offers Stable Diffusion community checkpoints such as Dreamshaper as style models.

限制

New model versions arrive with a delay: Kling 4.0 opened to everyone on Kling's own site on October 15, 2026, per its release note, and reached Magic Hour on October 27.

Do Magic Hour credits expire?

Magic Hour credits never expire, whether they come from a subscription, a one-time pack, signup, daily claims or a promotion. They stay in the account after you cancel, but higher resolutions and other plan features end with the subscription.

Magic Hour vs Higgsfield or Runway: which should I use?

Choose Magic Hour for face swap, lip sync and credits that never expire, Higgsfield for its Cinema Studio and short spells of unlimited Seedance 2.5 on larger plans, and Runway for its own Gen-4.5 model and a free trial. Entry prices on November 3, 2026 were US$19 a month (US$12 billed yearly) for Magic Hour, US$15 a month billed yearly for Higgsfield and US$15 a month (US$12 billed yearly) for Runway.

原因

Each site prices credits differently, so plan sizes do not compare directly.

下一步

Run one prompt on two of them and compare the cost per clip you would actually use.

This review is built from what could be checked on November 3, 2026: Magic Hour's own site, pricing page, terms, privacy policy, help center, changelog and API schema, Y Combinator's company directory, a test published by PiClumen (a competitor), two benchmarks Magic Hour ran on itself and the pricing pages of six rivals. Magic Hour's statements about itself are labelled as its own, and every price is the one shown on that day.

What Magic Hour is and who runs it

Magic Hour is a browser studio and REST API for making and editing video, images and audio. Magic Hour AI, Inc. was founded in 2023 by Runbo Li, its CEO, and David Hu, and Y Combinator's directory lists it in the Winter 2024 batch, based in San Francisco. On its about page the founders say the idea came from helping Li's parents make videos for their hot pot restaurant.

The company claims more than 4.9 million creators and 2,000 teams on its homepage; its official facts page adds more than 40 million videos generated and 50 million API calls. These are the company's own figures. Funding beyond Y Combinator's backing has not been reported by any news outlet, and the totals in funding databases disagree, so they are left out here.

What it sells is breadth in one place: more than 100 tools, from face swap and lip sync to background removal, music and voice cloning, on a single credit balance that also pays for the API.

What changed since August

The changelog lists dozens of releases since August. The changes that matter to a buyer:

  • New models. Seedance 2.5 arrived on August 8, 2026, Wan 3.0 on September 17, Nano Banana 2.1 and Seedance 2.0 Fast in October, and Kling 4.0 on October 27, for Creator, Pro and Business subscribers only, in clips of 3 to 30 seconds at 720p or 1080p.
  • Rights and billing. Credit packs gained commercial-use rights on September 18. The refund policy was revised on September 5 and the terms and privacy policy on October 3. On October 19 the Video Expander started charging more for higher resolutions.
  • Agents. Claude can connect through Magic Hour sign-in since September 20, and on October 30 the MCP server renamed 41 of its 48 tools with no aliases, which breaks saved agent workflows until they are updated.
  • Celebrity voices. On October 13 new celebrity-preset selection was removed from Characters, and on October 23 the presets for Dove Cameron and Davido were removed from the Voice Generator.
  • A watermark remover. A Video Watermark Remover arrived on September 28 with three free uses a day; the changelog says to use it only on videos you own or have permission to edit.

What it makes itself and what it resells

Generation runs on hosted models that Magic Hour does not present as its own. Its models page listed 31 on November 3, 2026 and itself credits Veo 3.1 to Google, GPT Image 2 to OpenAI and FLUX.2 Klein to Black Forest Labs; Kling 4.0, launched by Kling AI per its release note, has a model card on Magic Hour though the list had not caught up. Magic Hour presents face swap, lip sync and talking photos as its own systems and names no outside model for them; its video-to-video tool offers Stable Diffusion community checkpoints such as Dreamshaper as style models, per its API schema.

Each model has its own rate, published in Magic Hour's product-facts file:

ModelCredits per secondFive-second clipFree tier
LTX-2.5, MiniMax H324 at 480p, 72 at 1080p120 to 360480p
Kling 3.048 at 720p, 96 at 1080p with sound240 to 480No
Kling 4.080 at 720p, 120 at 1080p400 to 600No
Veo 3.196 at 720p, 144 at 1080p with sound480 to 720No
Wan 3.048 at 480p, 180 at 1080p240 to 900No

Face swap video (Magic Hour's own)25 at 480p, 40 at 4K125 to 200480p

Video references cost extra on the models that accept them. On the API page, images run from US$0.005 (FLUX.2 Klein, Z-Image Turbo) to US$0.141 (Nano Banana Pro) at full use of Business annual credits, and the Voice Generator charges 0.1 credit per character.

Sources: pricing page, Understanding Credits and the changelog for concurrency. Annual plans charge the full year up front and deliver all its credits at once. Visitors outside the US may see local-currency prices.

By our arithmetic from those prices, a credit costs about US$0.0016 on Creator monthly, US$0.0025 in the smallest pack and under US$0.001 on Business yearly. On Creator monthly a five-second clip therefore costs about US$0.38 with Kling 3.0 at 720p, US$0.95 with Kling 4.0 at 1080p, US$1.14 with Veo 3.1 at 1080p with sound and US$6.65 with Seedance 2.5 at 1080p. The pricing page's estimate of 1.7 hours of video a year on Creator assumes the cheapest rate of 24 credits a second; at Seedance 2.5's 1080p rate the same credits cover under three minutes.

Credits never expire, the strongest point of the pricing. Magic Hour's API docs compare one setting with the model maker's own price: a five-second Kling 3.0 clip at 720p without sound is 240 credits, US$0.24 on Creator annual, which Magic Hour calls about 43% below Kling's direct API list price of US$0.42 as of October 26, 2026. That is the company's own comparison.

Refunds come with three conditions: a request within 7 days of the charge, fewer than 400 credits used since, and one approved refund per customer, per the refund policy. Renewals qualify on the same terms.

The free tier and the watermark

The no-account tools are generous on images and thin on video. Per the FAQ and help center, image-to-video, text-to-video and the video editor share three requests a day, and everyone on the same network shares that allowance. Those clips are three seconds at 480p with a watermark. Video face swap allows three swaps a day of up to 10 seconds, and lip sync three a day, both watermarked, per the face swap and lip sync pages.

Photo tools such as the image generator (ten a day), photo face swap (five a day), headshots and background removal add no watermark. A free account's output is for personal, non-commercial use, and paying, even once for a US$10 pack, removes the watermark and adds commercial rights, per the help center's rights article.

The API and MCP server

The REST API at api.magichour.ai has 39 endpoints and is labelled beta in its schema. Jobs run asynchronously: upload files, create a project, poll until it is done, then download from a temporary link. The API page prices models from US$0.023 a second (MiniMax H3, LTX-2.5, Wan 2.2) to US$0.158 (Seedance 2.5) and images from US$0.005, all assuming full use of Business annual credits; usage-based billing with volume discounts is available on request. Magic Hour's llms.txt says the API has no rate or concurrency limits, though jobs may queue.

The MCP server at mcp.magichour.ai works with Claude, Claude Code and Codex CLI and creates images and videos; speech generation and voice cloning are not available through it. Its setup page still named the old upload tool on November 3, after the rename of October 30.

For small buyers the entry point is the draw. Kling's API pricing page sells prepaid unit packages; the 180-day ones started at US$500 and expire unused after 180 days, against US$10 credit packs here that never expire.

What public tests show

An outside test, by a competitor. PiClumen, which sells its own image and video platform, published a four-hour test on July 27, 2026. Face swap was fast and natural; head swap looked forced at the neck and hairline; body swap blended the two costumes. Lip sync from a photo first returned a one-second clip, and a longer run took five to seven minutes in all with mouth movements that often missed the words. The reviewer also found credits went faster than expected and that templates could not be adjusted after generation.

Magic Hour's own measurements. In its benchmark of September 9 to 10, 2026, one image-to-video brief at 8 seconds and 720p cost a median 384 credits on Kling 3.0 and 4,608 on Seedance 2.5, and two Seedance attempts were refused with a policy code at no charge. Its latency study of 8,160 API jobs found median times of 36 seconds for text-to-video and 21 minutes for Character Replace. The company designed and ran both. Searches turned up no test by an independent news outlet or review site.

Uptime. The status page showed the API, website, docs and free tools operational with no dated incidents listed.

Swapping faces and making people talk are two of the four starting points on Magic Hour's homepage, and the rules around them are loose. The terms say users must be 18, make the user responsible for the rights and consents needed to use anyone's image, voice or likeness, and do not require consent documents. They ban adult content and gore, sexual content involving minors, and sexually explicit or intimate content of a real person without consent, and they say Magic Hour does not pre-screen content.

The product leans toward real people. The face swap page offers "Celebrity Face Swap Videos" as a use case, and a public lip sync template built on an interview clip of Cameron Diaz suggests using her persona for marketing. PiClumen's July test picked a built-in Taylor Swift voice. Magic Hour has started pulling back, removing two named voices on October 23 (changelog), but its live API schema on November 3 still listed 1,261 voice names, among them Donald Trump, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Vladimir Putin and Taylor Swift. Magic Hour's own blog tells users not to infer a commercial identity licence from a preset, and its Voice Generator page prohibits non-consensual cloning and impersonation.

The Video Watermark Remover strips visible watermarks, logos and overlays from any uploaded clip. Magic Hour's help center states that removing a watermark does not grant commercial rights.

Privacy and data retention

The privacy policy and trust page say Magic Hour does not sell or train on prompts, uploads or outputs, on free, paid, API and MCP use alike, and that staff do not routinely review content. Face and voice media are processed only to perform the task and not to identify people.

Three caveats remain. Files go to the AI and media providers that run each model, which the policy describes by category without naming them. No retention period is given, and deleting a project does not guarantee immediate removal from backups or providers' systems; account deletion has a 14-day restore window. Advertising measurement shares device, click and conversion data with Microsoft Advertising, Reddit and OpenAI, though not your content, and data is processed in the United States.

Who should not use Magic Hour

  • Anyone who wants to put a real person's face or voice into an ad, endorsement or political clip without that person's written permission: the terms put the legal risk on you, and you indemnify Magic Hour.
  • Heavy users of one premium model, such as Seedance 2.5 at 1080p: a Creator month covers under three five-second clips.
  • Teams that need a fixed retention period, named processors or a published security certification before uploading client footage: the trust page lists none and sends security questionnaires to support.
  • Buyers who expect to try a plan and get their money back: the refund window closes after 400 credits or one prior refund.
  • Editors who need a timeline, frame-level control or compositing: Magic Hour says it does not replace that software.
  • Anyone under 18.

Kling's own app is the better buy if you mostly use Kling: it gets new versions first, and Kling 4.0, open to everyone on Kling's site from October 15 per its release note, reached Magic Hour on October 27. Higgsfield suits people who want its Cinema Studio camera controls, and its Plus and Ultra plans include 7 days of unlimited Seedance 2.5, which it says may be slowed at busy times. Runway is the choice for its own Gen-4.5 model, a free trial of 125 credits and, until November 30, 25% off Kling 4.0. Akool is stronger for live face swap and avatars, and Viggle is the cheapest way into character motion swaps. Pollo AI's FAQ says unused subscription credits do not roll over, where Magic Hour's never expire. Credits are not comparable across sites, so run one prompt on two of them and compare what a usable clip costs.
