Best AI to Real Image Converters in 2026: 8 AI Image Humanizers That Make AI Photos Look Real

6 min readPublished Updated

SparkPix is the simplest AI to real image converter for one AI photo: one click, the first image free, then about $0.14 an image with no subscription. Clarity AI and Magnific promise the closest match to the original face, Krea gives the most free tries, Topaz suits print sizes, and Upsampler is the free pick for anime to real.

Disclosure

SparkPix is our own product: it is made by the team behind GenGrades. We put it first because it is the simplest way to fix one AI photo, with a free first image and no subscription. Every fact on its card comes from its public pages, the same way as for the other seven tools, so you can compare them on the same terms.

Every pick, what it is best for, the cheapest paid option and the free option.

The picks, in order

What each one does, what it costs and where it falls short.

SparkPix's AI Image Humanizer re-renders an AI image the way a phone camera would have caught it: real skin texture, uneven light and less polished colour, with the pose, framing and face left as they were. There is nothing to set up: upload, optionally say what gives the image away, and download in about 20 to 40 seconds.

    Cheapest paid option

$9.99 for 350 credits, about $0.14 an image

A one-time pack, no subscription; one pass costs 5 credits, so the pack covers 70 images.

    Source: sparkpix.aichecked

    Free option

    First image free, at 1K

New accounts get 5 credits on sign-up, enough for one pass. No card needed.

    Source: sparkpix.aichecked

    How it works

Re-renders the whole image in one pass

SparkPix says only the rendering changes; identity, expression, pose, clothing and framing stay.

    Source: sparkpix.aichecked

    Max output

2K (the free image is 1K)

For print, SparkPix suggests humanizing first and upscaling second.

    Commercial use

    Allowed

The terms let you use what you make in personal or commercial projects; they forbid deepfakes of real people.

    Source: sparkpix.aichecked

    Good

    • No settings to learn: the default instruction handles skin, light, colour and background in one pass.
    • Pay per image with no subscription, and the first image is free.
    • Works beyond faces: SparkPix shows the same pass on food, pets and products.

    Watch out for

    • Output stops at 2K, so print needs a separate upscale.
    • One instruction box and no strength slider: less control than Clarity AI or Enhancor.
    • It keeps illustrations as illustrations, so it will not turn anime into a photo.

Skip it if: you need print-size output in one step, fine skin controls, or an anime character turned into a real person.

  2. 2. Clarity AI

Keeping the face while adding real detail
Clarity AI's Clarity Pro Upscaler page.
Clarity AI's Clarity Pro Upscaler page.

    Source: clarityai.cochecked

Clarity AI is an upscaler with two modes that matter here: Crystal, which its maker says keeps every real detail and invents nothing, and Clarity Pro, which adds skin and texture detail while staying close to the original. It suits people who want sliders and very large files rather than one button.

    Cheapest paid option

$19 a month (Starter), or $13 a month billed yearly

1,200 credits a month: about 100 Clarity Pro images at 2K, so $0.13 to $0.19 each. The API charges $0.03 per output megapixel with no plan.

    Source: clarityai.cochecked

    Free option

    None

The pricing page lists no free plan or trial.

    Source: clarityai.cochecked

    How it works

Precision upscale (Crystal) or creative upscale (Clarity Pro)

    Source: clarityai.cochecked

    Max output

Up to 1.5 gigapixels with Crystal

Clarity Pro is listed at 100 MP on the pricing table and 'up to 8K' on the homepage.

    Source: clarityai.cochecked

    Commercial use

    Included on every plan

    Source: clarityai.cochecked

    Good

    • Crystal is built for faces and skin and is pitched as inventing nothing.
    • Creativity, Resemblance and other sliders control how much may change.
    • Commercial licence on every plan, plus a pay-as-you-go API.

    Watch out for

    • No free plan or trial.
    • Creative settings can add artifacts, and faces are the most sensitive: Scenario's guide suggests starting below zero for faces.
    • It is an upscaler, not a one-click converter: you choose the model and the settings.

Skip it if: you want one button and a result without choosing models or sliders, or you want to try it free first.

Magnific, the company formerly called Freepik, has a Skin Enhancer with three modes: Faithful keeps the original look and has a skin-detail slider, Creative goes further and more stylised, and Flexible has presets, including one called transform_to_real for AI images. It comes inside a bigger suite of stock, image models and upscalers.

    Cheapest paid option

About $20 a month (Premium, US)

Magnific's own pricing page served us Singapore-dollar prices: SGD 24 a month, SGD 18 billed yearly. Skin Enhancer edits are paid from the plan's credits.

    Good

    • Three modes, including Faithful with a skin-detail slider and a transform_to_real preset.
    • One plan covers stock, image models and upscalers too.
    • Available by API and in ComfyUI for batch work.

    Watch out for

    • No free way to try the Skin Enhancer.
    • Prices and credit costs are spread across pages and shown in local currency.
    • Creative modes can change faces: in LetsEnhance's 2025 comparison, Magnific's Creative upscaler badly altered real faces.

Krea's Enhancer is a general AI upscaler with six engines, Krea's own and Topaz's among them, that re-generates detail such as pores and fabric as it enlarges. It has no realism mode of its own, but at low strength it adds the texture AI images lack, and the free plan allows four enhancements a day.

    Cheapest paid option

    $9 a month (Basic)

625 enhancements a month, about $0.014 each; around $5 a month billed yearly.

    Good

    • Four free enhancements a day.
    • About a cent and a half per image on the Basic plan.
    • Six engines to choose from and very large outputs.

    Watch out for

    • No skin or realism mode: realism comes only from invented detail.
    • Krea says faces can change, so keep strength low.
    • Free results cannot be used commercially.

Skip it if: the face must stay exactly the same person, for example a headshot of a real client.

    Good

    • Unlimited image renders for a flat monthly fee.
    • Bloom Realism is aimed squarely at the plastic AI look in skin, fabric, metal and hair.
    • The same plan includes Topaz's iOS and Android apps.

    Watch out for

    • Higher Creativity can turn a character into someone else, as a Topaz Community user reported with Midjourney portraits in 2025.
    • Only limited commercial use on the cheapest plan.
    • The product just changed apps, and Topaz's own pages disagree on the maximum scale (6x or 8x).

    • Focal Isolation protects the features that make a face recognisable.
    • API from the Creator plan.

    Watch out for

    • The $12 plan stops at 1080p; the 8K on the homepage needs the $299 plan.

    Watch out for

    • 1K output only.
    • No commercial licence on the monthly plans.
    • Purchases are final, and the terms do not name the company behind it.

    Cheapest paid option

    $15 a month (Pro)

    Watch out for

    • Free output is only about one megapixel.
    • Shared free GPUs mean a 20 to 30 second queue and an unpublished daily cap.
    • Very stylised art, such as chibi, converts loosely.

How to do it

Each step is one thing to do.

  1. Start from the largest original

Export the AI image at the highest resolution you have. These tools rebuild texture from what is there, so a small or compressed file gives them less to work with.

  2. Pick the kind of tool for the job

If only the skin looks plastic, use a skin tool. If the light, colour and background also look generated, use a one-click converter. If you need a large print, finish with an upscaler.

  3. Keep creativity low when the face matters

On tools with a creativity, strength or resemblance setting, start at the lowest level. Higher settings add more detail and are more likely to change who the person is.

  4. Run it once and compare at 100%

Put the result next to the original at full size and check the eyes, teeth, hairline and hands. Running the same image again and again adds small changes up into a different face.

  5. Upscale last

Make the image look real at its native size first, then enlarge it. Upscaling first only makes the AI texture bigger before it is fixed.

How we ranked these tools

The job this list ranks for is the one most people mean by "AI to real": taking an AI-generated photo and making it look like a real camera took it, without turning the person into someone else. Each tool was placed on what its maker says about faces, what one image costs, whether you can try it free, how large the result can be, and what paying customers complain about in public. Every price, limit and promise on this page was read on the maker's own pages on October 21, 2026, and carries its link.

SparkPix is first because it is the simplest way to fix one AI photo: no settings, a free first image and no subscription. It is also our own product, as the note at the top of the page says. Clarity AI and Magnific come next because they promise the closest match to the original face and give you the controls to hold it there.

Converter, humanizer or upscaler: which one you need

The tools here do three different things, and the right one depends on what is wrong with your image.

  • One-click converters (SparkPix, NanoPic) re-render the whole image as a photo. They fix skin, light, colour and background together, which is what an image that "looks AI" usually needs. You give up fine control.
  • Skin tools (Enhancor, Magnific's Faithful mode) rebuild skin texture and leave the rest alone. They are the right choice when the composition and light are fine and only the plastic skin gives the image away.
  • Creative upscalers (Clarity AI, Krea, Topaz, Upsampler's skin enhancer) enlarge the image and invent detail as they go. They give the largest files, but the more detail they invent, the more a face can drift. Krea and Topaz both say so on their own pages.

Turning anime or cartoon art into a real person

Anime to real is a different job: the tool has to invent a human face that was never there. Upsampler's free converter is the easiest place to start, with no account and no watermark, though the result is about one megapixel. Fotor's Anime to Real Life Converter works inside Fotor's editor, with free credits on sign-up and a Pro plan from $8.99 a month. Expect a new face that keeps the hair, outfit and pose, not a likeness. SparkPix does not do this: it keeps illustrations in their own style.

Can you do it free in Gemini or ChatGPT?

Partly. Google's Gemini app lists its Nano Banana 2 model as free and lets you upload an image to edit, so you can ask it to re-render an AI picture as a real photo. Its results carry a visible watermark as well as Google's invisible SynthID mark, and Google does not publish how many free images you get. OpenAI's prompting guide for its image models suggests asking for a real photograph with pores, wrinkles and imperfections, naming a film or lens, and adding "no heavy retouching". Several paid converters run on these same models. What they add is a tested instruction, settings that protect the face, larger files and no visible watermark.

Other tools we looked at

  • Face26 RealAI has a free try with one watermark-free download, but publishes no prices, and its eight most recent Trustpilot reviews were all one-star.
  • LetzAI Fix Skin is the cheapest per run, about two cents, but needs a subscription even to try it.
  • Imagera's AI Image Humanizer costs about $1.19 an image on its yearly plan, with no free tier.
  • PhotoRealify gives a free first conversion with no account, but its company was registered in April 2026 and has no public reviews yet.

What public comparisons show

No independent test has put these converters side by side on the same image. The ranked lists that exist are written by vendors who place themselves first: HitPaw's cartoon-to-real list ranks HitPaw first, and LetsEnhance's January 2026 upscaler test ends by recommending LetsEnhance. That test did find faces stayed faithful across the four tools it ran, Magnific among them. Chase Jarvis's 2026 guide warns that Magnific at high creativity can change a person's facial structure, and describes Enhancor as constrained to keep identity. In Decrypt's May 2026 test of the two models most converters run on, Nano Banana 2 won the photorealism round and GPT Image 2 kept an uploaded photo more recognisable.

For more AI image tools, see the most popular AI image editing apps by traffic.

Where these tools fall short

What they still get wrong, with the evidence, and what no public test has settled yet.

Weak

Weak

  • Any tool that redraws an image can change a face.

Evidence: Krea, Topaz and NanoPic say so on their own pages, and Clarity AI's FAQ says high creativity settings can add artifacts.

  • The free options are small.

Evidence: Free results are 1K on SparkPix, about 1 MP on Upsampler and 2K on Krea; Clarity AI, Enhancor and Magnific list no free plan.

  • Prices change often.

Evidence: Since 2025, Enhancor, Clarity AI, Magnific and Topaz have all changed their plans or product names; every price on this page carries the date it was read.

Uncertain

Uncertain

  • Which tool gives the most realistic result on the same image.

Why unsure: No independent same-image test of these converters has been published; the comparisons that exist are written by vendors who rank themselves first.

  • How many free images the Gemini app gives.

Why unsure: Google's support page says free limits refresh every few hours up to a weekly cap, but gives no number and says limits may change.

What is the best AI to real image converter?

For one AI photo, SparkPix is the simplest: one click, the first image free, then about $0.14 an image with no subscription. It is our own product, so read the disclosure at the top. If the face must not change, Clarity AI's Crystal mode and Magnific's Faithful Skin Enhancer promise the closest match; for print sizes use Topaz for Web, and for anime use Upsampler's free converter.

Is there a free AI to real image converter?

Yes, several tools have a free option. Upsampler's Anime to Real tool is free with no account; Krea gives four free enhancements a day at up to 2K; SparkPix's first image is free at 1K; and Google's Gemini app can re-render an uploaded image with its free Nano Banana 2 model, adding a visible watermark.

How do I make an AI photo look real?

Re-render it with a tool or a prompt that adds what cameras capture and generators leave out: pores and fine lines, uneven light, ordinary colour and a little grain. Start from the largest original, keep creativity low so the face stays the same, run it once, and upscale last.

Will an AI image humanizer change the face?

An AI image humanizer can change a face, because any tool that redraws pixels may move features; Krea, Topaz and NanoPic say so on their own pages. Low creativity, face-protecting options such as Enhancor's Focal Isolation, Clarity AI's Crystal mode or Magnific's Faithful mode, and a single pass all lower the risk.

Can AI turn an anime character into a real person?

Yes, with tools built for it, such as Upsampler's free Anime to Real converter and Fotor's Anime to Real Life Converter. Expect a new human face that keeps the hair, outfit and pose rather than a perfect likeness. SparkPix does not do this; it keeps illustrations as illustrations.

Do these tools make AI images pass AI detectors?

No, and none of the eight promises it. They change how an image looks, while detectors also read metadata and watermarks such as Google's SynthID. If a platform asks you to label AI content, label it.
