Privacy policy

GenGrades collects as little as it can: the email address and name your Google account shares when you sign in, and the product events needed to run and improve the site. We do not sell personal data, we do not run advertising trackers, and our cookies exist only to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences.

1. Who we are

GenGrades operates gengrades.com, an independent review site for generative AI tools and models. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Questions about it go to contact@gengrades.com.

2. What we collect

We collect three kinds of data, and nothing else.

  • Account data when you sign in with Google. Google sends us the email address and the name on your Google account so that we can create and recognise your account. We never see your Google password, and we do not request access to your contacts, files or calendar.
  • Product events. Which pages you open, which features you use, and errors you hit. We use these to see what works, fix what does not, and decide what to test next. Events are tied to your account when you are signed in and are otherwise anonymous.
  • Technical logs. Our servers record the IP address, browser type and time of each request for security and rate limiting. These logs are kept only as long as needed for that purpose.

3. What we do with it

We use your data to run the site, keep accounts secure, improve the reviews and the product, and reply when you write to us. We do not sell personal data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it to build profiles for anyone else.

Service providers that host our site and backend process data on our behalf, under contracts that limit them to that purpose. Google processes your sign-in under its own privacy policy.

4. Cookies

GenGrades sets cookies for two purposes only: to keep you signed in, and to remember preferences such as a chosen view. There are no advertising cookies and no third-party tracking cookies. Blocking cookies in your browser keeps every public page readable; it only prevents signing in.

5. How long we keep it

Account data is kept for as long as your account exists. Product events are kept in aggregated form; event records tied to an account are removed when the account is deleted. Technical logs are rotated on a short schedule.

6. Your choices and rights

You can ask us at any time to show you the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete your account and the data attached to it. Email contact@gengrades.com from the address on your account and we will act on it. Depending on where you live you may have further rights under local law, and we honour those too.

7. Children

GenGrades is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, tell us at contact@gengrades.com and we will delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with the date at the top. Material changes to what we collect or why are announced on the site before they take effect.

9. Contact

For anything about privacy, write to contact@gengrades.com.
