Open-source software is software whose source code anyone can read, change and share. This section lists free, open-source apps that aim to replace paid office and creative software, one page each: what it does, who it suits, what it cannot do yet, and how to install it.
Every download button points to the official file in the project's own GitHub release, so you get exactly what the authors published without having to find your way around GitHub. The version and date on each page are checked against GitHub every 30 minutes.
Each page is written from the project's README and releases, every fact with its source and the date we checked it, and each one says plainly who should not switch yet.
Many of these apps are new and change every few days. Keep your important files in their original format until you are sure an app handles them well.
