Best Manus Alternatives in 2026: 9 AI Agents Compared on Price, Credits and Privacy

8 min readPublished Updated

Genspark is the closest Manus alternative for most people: one prompt to a finished deck, sheet or document, with credit-free Standard tasks on its Plus plan. ChatGPT Work suits people who already pay for ChatGPT, Kimi Agent is the cheapest route to Office files and web apps, and OpenClaw is the free, open-source assistant you run yourself.

Disclosure

None of these nine agents is made by the team behind GenGrades, and none paid to be listed. They are ranked on how much of Manus's job they do (one request in, a finished deliverable out), what they cost, what you can try free, where your data goes and what public tests show; every fact links to its source.

Every pick, what it is best for, the cheapest paid option and the free option.

The picks, in order

What each one does, what it costs and where it falls short.

  1. 1. Genspark

The closest swap for Manus: one prompt to a finished deck, sheet or document
Genspark's help page for Super Agent, which breaks a request into steps, picks the tools and carries the work through to a finished result.

    Source: genspark.aichecked

Genspark is an AI workspace built around Super Agent, which breaks a request into steps, works in its own cloud sandbox with a browser, files and code, and hands back a slide deck, spreadsheet, document, web page or image. It covers more of what Manus does than any other agent here, and on the Plus plan Standard-mode tasks inside a weekly Free Quota cost no credits.

    Cheapest paid option

$24.99 a month (Plus), or $19.99 a month billed yearly

From 10,000 credits a month. Under the weekly Free Quota, Standard-mode Super Agent, Slides, Sheets, Docs and Deep Research tasks cost no credits; Ultra mode, video and audio always do.

    Source: genspark.aichecked

    Free option

100 credits a day, up to a lifetime cap

Genspark does not publish the cap. Once an account reaches it, the daily refill stops but the remaining balance still works.

    Cost of a task

    Not published

Cost rises with model tier, output length, resolution and video length; each regeneration is charged again, and monthly credits do not roll over.

    Training on your data

Not stated for personal plans; Team and Enterprise are opted out

Data is stored in the US on Microsoft Azure; account data is deleted within 30 days of closing the account.

    Source: genspark.aichecked

    Good

    • The widest set of built-in agents in one plan: slides, sheets, docs, deep research, fact checking, images, video and phone calls.
    • On Plus and Pro, Standard-mode tasks inside the weekly Free Quota cost no credits, which takes some guesswork out of the bill.
    • Faster and more visual than Manus in Techpoint Africa's seven-task comparison.

    Watch out for

    • Credits are hard to predict: Preuve AI cites a Plus user who spent 9,089 credits on one 10-second video.
    • The free plan is a trial rather than a tier: the daily credits stop at an unpublished lifetime cap.
    • In the same Techpoint comparison Manus was deeper and more accurate, and Genspark's research brief mixed up data years.

Skip it if: you need a free plan you can keep using, a predictable cost for video, or a clear answer on whether personal-plan prompts train models.

  2. 2. ChatGPT Work

You already pay for ChatGPT and want decks and sheets built from your own apps

ChatGPT Work is the agent inside ChatGPT: give it a goal and it pulls context from your connected apps and files, splits the job into steps and hands back documents, spreadsheets, slide decks, reports and small web apps. It launched on July 9, 2026 and replaced ChatGPT agent mode, so for anyone already on a ChatGPT plan it is the Manus alternative that costs nothing extra.

    Cheapest paid option

    $20 a month (Plus)

Work shares an allowance with Codex and ChatGPT for Excel, with a weekly cap and a five-hour cap; OpenAI publishes no per-task numbers. OpenAI's own pricing page could not be read, so the price is from 9to5Mac.

    Free option

Included in the desktop app on every plan, Free too

OpenAI does not publish how much Work a Free account gets.

    Source: implicator.aichecked

    What it replaced

ChatGPT agent mode, which OpenAI no longer offers

OpenAI's help centre now points agent-mode users to Work; a thread on OpenAI's forum says agent mode was gone by August 8, 2026.

    Source: usecarly.comchecked

    Where it runs

OpenAI's cloud; in the desktop app also your local files and apps

    Training on your data

Consumer chats train models unless you switch it off

Business, Enterprise and Edu data is not used for training by default.

    Source: help.openai.comchecked

    Good

    • No second subscription if you already pay for ChatGPT Plus or a business plan.
    • Works across your connected apps and, on desktop, your local files, with a plan mode and check-ins before important actions.
    • Business data is not used for training by default, and admins get controls and a Compliance API.

    Watch out for

    • Limits are opaque and change: Plus lost its five-hour cap and got it back on August 25, 2026, and no per-task numbers are published.
    • Unlike agent mode, it cannot hand you a logged-in browser mid-task, so some sign-in workflows broke, users on OpenAI's forum report.
    • On the Remote Labor Index, the older ChatGPT agent finished 1.3% of real freelance projects to a client's standard, against 2.5% for Manus.

Skip it if: the agent has to log into websites and click through them for you, or you need a fixed cost per task.

  3. 3. Kimi Agent

Office files or a deployed web app at a low monthly price
Kimi's home page: one box to ask a question or task an agent, with shortcuts for Slides, Deep Research, Docs, Build and Sheets.

Kimi Agent, launched as OK Computer in September 2025, is the agent mode in Moonshot AI's Kimi: describe a research, coding or office task and it plans the steps, uses more than 20 tools and hands back editable Office files or a deployed web page. In a 2025 test by woshipm.com it beat Manus on both tasks compared, and failed tasks are not charged.

    Cheapest paid option

49 yuan a month (Go), or 468 yuan a year

These are the China plans in Kimi's help centre; dollar prices for international users are not published there. Go runs one Agent task at a time; Plus (99 yuan) adds Agent Swarm.

Kimi suggests splitting long documents and breaking big jobs into two or three stages.

    Source: kimi.comchecked

    Good

    • Turns one request into editable Office files or a deployed web app with a database, login, version rollback and code export.
    • Agent Swarm splits large jobs across up to 300 sub-agents on Plus and higher plans.
    • In woshipm.com's 2025 test it beat Manus on maths courseware and a travel site and ran about 20 to 30% faster.

    Watch out for

    • Quota is shown only as a percentage of the month, and no plan says how many tasks it buys.
    • Anthropic alleges Moonshot passed Kimi users' requests to Claude without telling them; China's internet regulator is investigating, Gizmodo reported in September 2026.
    • Prices are published in yuan only, and the privacy policy describes no way to opt out of product improvement.

Skip it if: you handle confidential client files and need a clear no-training promise from a vendor with no open investigation.

  4. 4. MiniMax Agent (Mavis)

One plan for an agent plus image, video, voice and music generation

    Source: agent.minimax.iochecked

MiniMax Agent, renamed Mavis in May 2026, is MiniMax's general agent: the web version runs tasks in the cloud with no install, and the MiniMax Code desktop app adds coding and work modes on your own files, teams of agents and generated images, video, speech and music. In AppSo's 2025 test of one finance deck it took nearly an hour but delivered an editable PPT, a PDF report and a web link, with strong charts.

    Cheapest paid option

Not stated in the privacy policy

The terms give MiniMax a perpetual, royalty-free licence to use and adapt your content.

    Source: agent.minimax.iochecked

    Good

    • One subscription covers the agent, coding in the terminal, the API and MiniMax's image, video, voice and music models.
    • Agent Teams run a leader, workers and a verifier in parallel, and a failed check sends the work back.
    • AppSo's July 2025 reviewer rated its deck among the most detailed and rigorous of four agents, with strong charts.

    Watch out for

    • Each plan shows two prices with no billing period, and credits per plan are not published.
    • The privacy policy does not say whether your tasks train models, and the terms take a broad licence to your content.
    • Anthropic accused MiniMax in February 2026 of using fraudulent accounts to distil Claude's answers.

Skip it if: your team needs published credit numbers per plan or a written promise that its files will not train models.

Skywork, from Kunlun Tech's Singapore unit, is an AI workspace with agents for documents, slides, sheets, websites, images and video, plus SkyClaw, an assistant that keeps working on a goal in the background and takes tasks from Slack, Discord, Telegram and WhatsApp. It is best known for research-heavy decks and reports that cite their sources.

    Cheapest paid option

    Trustpilot

    1.3 out of 5 from 80 reviews

94% one-star, mostly about $1 trials turning into annual charges and refused refunds.

    Source: trustpilot.comchecked

    Good

    • Strong on research-led decks: The Tool Nerd's 2025 test rated its deck best overall for structure and depth, ahead of Manus and Genspark.
    • Its privacy policy says your personal data, uploads and queries are not used to train models.
    • SkyClaw keeps working on a goal after you close the chat and can be reached from Slack, Discord, Telegram and WhatsApp.

    Watch out for

    • Billing complaints dominate its Trustpilot page: trials that became annual charges, hard-to-find cancellation and refused refunds.
    • The pricing model has changed several times, from unlimited to credits, and the live price list cannot be read without a browser.
    • Its web-page output was rated only average in The Tool Nerd's hands-on review.

Skip it if: you might forget to cancel a $1 trial, or your team needs a stable, published price list.

    • Works on the files on your own computer and hands back Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files.
    • Bring your own model key or run a local model through Ollama.

    Watch out for

    • No cost per task is published, and credit use grows with the length of the conversation because the whole context is sent each turn.
    • Model training is on by default on the China edition's personal plans.
    • The bonus credits are limited-time offers, and the free plan's 100 monthly credits stop once you pay.

    Good

    • Free and open source under the MIT licence, with no vendor credit meter.
    • Runs on your own hardware and answers in the chat apps you already use: WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Signal, Slack, iMessage and more.
    • Works with any model, hosted or local, so you choose the price and where your data goes.

    Watch out for

    • Security is the main risk: hundreds of malicious skills were found on ClawHub in 2026, and sandboxing stays off unless you configure it.
    • Needs command-line setup; a maintainer warned in January 2026 that it is too dangerous for people who cannot use one.
    • No built-in slide, report or website maker: it does tasks and replies rather than packaging deliverables.

Perplexity Max subscribers who want one agent working across many models

Perplexity Computer is Perplexity's cloud agent, launched on February 27, 2026 for Max subscribers: it splits a task across 19 AI models and works on it in Perplexity's cloud. Its free sibling, the Comet browser, does smaller jobs inside your own logged-in browser. Few public tests of Computer exist, which is why it sits at the bottom.

    • Max also includes Comet's background assistant and Perplexity's top models.
    • Comet, the free browser agent, can act on sites where you are already logged in, which a cloud agent cannot reach without your password.

    Watch out for

    • $200 a month, with no cheaper way to get Computer.
    • No public head-to-head test of Computer against Manus was found.
    • Comet has had prompt-injection flaws: Brave showed hidden text could make it leak a Gmail code.

How to do it

Each step is one thing to do.

  1. Save what you made in Manus

Download your decks, documents, spreadsheets and website code before you cancel. Monthly Manus credits do not roll over, so there is no reason to keep a plan you will not use.

  2. Name the job you used Manus for

Decks and documents point to Genspark or Skywork; files from your own Google or Microsoft apps to ChatGPT Work; deployed web apps to Kimi Agent; local office files to WorkBuddy; a chat-app assistant to OpenClaw; errands to Muse.

  3. Run one real task on a free tier

Genspark, MiniMax Agent, WorkBuddy, Muse and the ChatGPT desktop app all let you start free. Give each the same task you last gave Manus and compare the files, not the chat.

  4. Check the data settings before uploading work files

ChatGPT trains on consumer chats until you switch it off, Genspark's personal plans describe no opt-out, and WorkBuddy's China edition trains by default. Change the setting or pick a business plan first.

  5. Rebuild scheduled tasks and connectors

Automations, connected apps and API keys do not move between agents. List the ones you had in Manus and set them up again in the new tool.

  6. Watch the first month's credits

Check the usage page after a few tasks. Video, long research and regenerations use far more credits than a short document on most of these agents.

How we ranked these Manus alternatives

The job this list ranks for is Manus's own: you describe a task once, and an agent works through it by itself and hands back something finished, such as a slide deck, a report, a spreadsheet or a working web page. Each agent was placed on how much of that job it covers from start to finish, how it charges (credits, quotas or your own model bill), what you can try free, where it runs, what happens to your data, and what public head-to-head tests show. Prices, limits and claims were read on October 25, 2026 (Muse's plan prices on October 17) and link to their sources; where a vendor's own pricing page could not be read, the card says where the figure comes from.

Genspark is first because it covers the most of what Manus does in one subscription and has the most public comparisons against Manus. ChatGPT Work is second because many people already pay for it. Agents that do a narrower job, such as OpenClaw's self-hosted assistant or Muse's errands, sit lower because they replace only part of Manus, not because they are worse at their part.

What changed at Manus in 2026

Manus had an unsettled year, which is why many people are looking around.

  • China blocked Meta's planned purchase of Manus on April 27, 2026 (TechCrunch), and Manus has run independently again since September 1 (Manus).
  • During the split, new subscriptions were paused in unnamed regions from August 11 (Manus help), and some accounts lost data created from December 29, 2025 (Manus).
  • Manus 2.0 arrived on September 28 with a desktop workspace, automations, a rentable Cloud Computer and a separate personal-agent app, Cue (Manus).
  • In October Manus raised more than $500 million in a round led by Boyu Capital (SiliconANGLE), and OPPO said Manus will power the agent mode on its Find X10 phones (OPPO).
  • Salt Labs showed it could take over a Manus agent with one crafted email; Manus fixed it before the report was published (TechRadar).

Pricing kept its shape: a free plan with 300 credits a day, capped at 1,500 a month and limited to Manus 2.0 Lite, and Pro from $20 a month for 4,000 credits (Manus help). Credits pay for model tokens, virtual machines and outside APIs, so the cost of a task is hard to know in advance (Manus help). Our Manus review has the full picture.

Which kind of agent you need

"Manus alternative" covers several kinds of tool. Pick the kind first, then the product.

  • Cloud task agents (Genspark, ChatGPT Work, Kimi Agent, MiniMax Agent, Skywork) are the closest to Manus: you hand over a task and come back to finished files.
  • Desktop agents (WorkBuddy, the MiniMax Code app) work on the files on your own computer, which suits office work on folders of documents you already have.
  • A self-hosted assistant (OpenClaw) is free software on your own machine; you pay your model provider and do the setup and security yourself.
  • Errand agents (Muse, Perplexity's Comet browser) do things on websites for you, such as bookings, shopping and forms. They do not build decks or reports.
  • A design agent (Lovart) turns a brief into posters, social images, brand kits and short videos on a canvas. In a 2025 test on 36Kr it matched Manus on image quality and was far faster, but it does not research or build spreadsheets, so it is not ranked here.
  • An agent builder (Coze) lets you design a bot or workflow once and publish it to Discord, Telegram or Slack; its core, Coze Studio, is open source under Apache 2.0. You build the agent yourself, so it is not a hand-off replacement for Manus.

What public comparisons show

No public test has compared Manus 2.0 with these agents yet. The comparisons that exist ran in 2025 on earlier versions, so read them as a guide to each product's character rather than a final score.

  • The Remote Labor Index from Scale AI and the Center for AI Safety gave agents 230 real paid freelance projects. Manus completed 2.5% to a standard a client would accept, the best result; ChatGPT agent completed 1.3%.
  • MIT Technology Review found Manus beat ChatGPT Deep Research on two of three research jobs in March 2025, but it was slower and failed more often.
  • Techpoint Africa ran seven writing and research tasks through Manus and Genspark in August 2025: Manus was deeper and more accurate, Genspark faster and more visual, with no overall winner.
  • The Tool Nerd gave Manus, Genspark and Skywork the same deck prompt in June 2025. Skywork won on structure and depth, Genspark on visuals, and Manus made 19 slides with generic titles.
  • Analytics Vidhya set Manus and ChatGPT agent four tasks in July 2025: Manus passed two, ChatGPT agent one.
  • AppSo asked four agents for the same retirement-planning deck in July 2025. Manus was fastest at under 10 minutes; MiniMax took nearly an hour and was the most detailed; the author liked Kimi's long, cited report best.
  • woshipm.com found Kimi's OK Computer beat Manus on maths courseware and a travel site in September 2025 and ran about 20 to 30% faster.

Genspark's launch claim of 87.8% on the GAIA benchmark against 86% for Manus is the vendor's own figure, as VentureBeat reported it.

Other tools we looked at

  • Flowith puts many models side by side on a canvas and adds Agent Neo for long tasks, from $19.90 a month. It is not ranked: its free plan is a one-time 300 credits, we could not confirm how widely it is used, and no independent test against Manus was found.
  • Lovart is a design agent rather than a general one (see above), and its Trustpilot page is dominated by billing complaints.
  • Coze gives 10 free credits a day on its international edition; reports of Coze Space, the agent workspace often compared with Manus, cover only the China edition.
  • Perplexity Comet is covered with Perplexity Computer above: it is a browser agent for tasks on sites you are logged into, not a maker of files.

Where these tools fall short

What they still get wrong, with the evidence, and what no public test has settled yet.

Weak

Weak

  • Every general agent still fails most real work.

Evidence: On the Remote Labor Index the best agent, Manus, completed 2.5% of 230 real freelance projects to a client's standard.

  • Credit costs are hard to predict.

Evidence: Manus, Genspark, Skywork and Kimi publish no typical cost per task, and Genspark charges every regeneration again.

  • Names and prices change fast.

Evidence: In 2026 ChatGPT agent became ChatGPT Work, MiniMax Agent became Mavis, Skywork changed its credit model and Genspark capped its free credits; every price here carries the date it was read.

Uncertain

Uncertain

  • Which agent does best on the same task today.

Why unsure: The public head-to-head tests ran in 2025 on Manus 1.x and earlier versions of the others; none has tested Manus 2.0.

  • Some of the prices on this page.

Why unsure: Skywork, OpenAI and Perplexity pricing pages could not be read directly, so those figures come from guides and news reports, each named on its card.

Common questions

Answer first, then why, an example, the limits and what to do next.

What is the best Manus alternative?

Genspark is the best Manus alternative for most people: one prompt gets you a finished deck, sheet or document, and Plus subscribers get Standard-mode tasks free of credits inside a weekly quota. If you already pay for ChatGPT, try ChatGPT Work first; if you want free software you run yourself, use OpenClaw.

Is there a free Manus alternative?

OpenClaw is a free Manus alternative: open-source software that costs nothing, though you pay for the AI model it uses unless you run one locally. Genspark gives 100 credits a day up to a lifetime cap, MiniMax Agent gives daily login credits, WorkBuddy gives 100 credits a month, and ChatGPT Work is in the desktop app on the Free plan, with limits OpenAI does not publish.

Is there an open-source Manus alternative?

OpenClaw is the open-source option: MIT licensed, installed on your own computer or server and used through chat apps such as WhatsApp and Telegram. Coze Studio, the open core of ByteDance's Coze, is open source too, but it is a tool for building agents. Skywork is not open source; only some of its research code is.

Is Genspark better than Manus?

Genspark is faster and more visual than Manus, while Manus is deeper and more accurate, according to Techpoint Africa's seven-task comparison. In The Tool Nerd's deck test, Genspark had the best-looking slides but Skywork the best structure. Both tests ran in 2025, before Manus 2.0.

Is Manus still owned by Meta?

Manus is no longer owned by Meta: China blocked Meta's purchase on April 27, 2026, and Manus has run independently again since September 1, 2026. In October it raised more than $500 million in a round led by Boyu Capital.

Which Manus alternative is best for slides?

Genspark makes the most polished first-draft decks, and its AI Slides agent is free of credits in Standard mode within the weekly quota on paid plans. Skywork is better when the deck has to rest on research with sources, and Kimi Agent exports editable PPT files from one request.
